Tarek Barbar, MD

I am a board-certified nephrologist and the medical director of inpatient dialysis services at three hospitals. Aside from providing clinical patient care at the Idaho Kidney Institute, I serve as the Principal Investigator for multiple clinical trials exploring a range of kidney disease etiologies, including autoimmune, genetic, metabolic and hemodynamic. I earned my MD degree from Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar and completed my Internal Medicine residency and Nephrology fellowship at the NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City. I was honored with two academic awards for dedication to patient care and medical education: the Fellow of the Year Award during my fellowship, and the Specialist of the Year Award in my first year as an attending physician at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center (EIRMC). As an active contributor to medical research, I have authored and co-authored several publications in peer-reviewed journals and a book chapter. I am a member of the American Society of Nephrology and the American College of Physicians. My foremost priority is delivering optimal patient care, and I firmly believe that advancements in research and evidence-based medicine are fundamental pillars in achieving the highest standards of patient outcomes.
